I've recently returned from this year's Maxterdam, a two day mechanical modeling seminar held by 3D-Palace's Cris Robson.
I was great meeting Cris and some of the other regulars from 3D-Palace - my feet still hurts from the massive pub-crawl that concluded the second day!
The first day we learned about mechanical limb design, making an arm from the upcoming Pariah tutorial set - awesome stuff.
The second day we then rigged the arm got a few tricks for using spline controllers for animating it.
Cris also gave a good introduction to particle flow and the cool stuff that you can do with that. Oh, and I learned at much faster way of doing quick mental ray wip renders!
I hope to go there next year if I can convince the minister of internal affairs, that is!
